Pedometers
Pedometers are a hugely valuable tool to helping users improve their overall health and wellbeing.
The government supported 10,000 steps a day challenge launched by the NHS in recent years raised awareness of the usefulness of pedometers in fighting health risks such as obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes. They can be worn all day, every day or just when the user is out for a walking workout.
All pedometers count the number of steps taken, although they may
use different methods to do so. The most accurate way of recording how
many steps have been taken is through an accelerometer like the one
used in the
Tanita PD724 Tri-Axis Pedometer.
Many pedometers now have additional features to enhance your workouts such as target times as seen in the
Timex Pedometer and even calorie counters like the
Oregon Calorie Counter Pedometer with Panic Alarm.
Wearing a pedometer and recording daily steps is a fantastic way
to increase users motivation to exercise.
