Before using the meter and the lancet system for the first time, it is necessary to read through the detailed operating instructions carefully. Basically, switch on meter and wait until "Code" blinks prior to calibrate the meter with the code strip of the correct type. Then, insert correct type of test strip and prepare for the first meter reading. Adjust penetration depth of the lancet system and insert the disposable needle. Place the lancet against a clean fingertip and release the lancet. Remember to remove the needle in a sharps bin. Apply drop of blood to cover test pad completely, close flap immediately, and wait for the reading. These steps must be accompanied by proper blood handling techniques. Furthermore, used materials must be disposed according to local health regulations.
